Downhill-Skateboarding

Longboards are special versions of skateboards. There are Longboards for every kind of riding style. Downhill Longboards are the „Formula 1 Boards”. They are 90 to 120 cm long and the rider can speed down the streets with up to 100km/h!!!
Since the early 90s there are Skateboard-Downhill competitions battled at steep streets. The IGSA (International Gravity Sports Association) does world-cup events and also a world championship event every year. At the „Beton on Fire 2010, “ Longboard- Downhill was celebrating as world premier for a discipline in a Bobtrack!!! 

 

Inline-Downhill

In contrast for normal Inline-Skates, Downhill Skates are optimized for high speed. It will be mounted five large rolls per shoe on a longer rail. In Inline Downhill races, the athletes shut down paved high roads, that normally has a angle of 7 to 13 % and show lots of close curves. On some parts an incredible speed of 110 km/h can be reached! Since 1995 in the European-Cup, which is replaced by the World-Cup since 2001, races are carried out regularly . Since 2000 the World Championship is arranged by the F.I.R.S. (Federation International de Roller Sports) every year.

 

The History of Bobtrack-Skating

The first Bobtrack-Inline-Downhill was the „Red Bull Inline Beton“ and it took place in the bobtrack of Königssee in the years 1996 – 1998. Nearly one decade later the „Red Bull Hot Run“ was carried out, this time in the olympic bobtrack of Sarajevo. Since 2009 the „Beton on Fire“ is born, in the bobtrack of Altenberg and its completed by the discipline „Longboard“ since 2010.
